Chelsea snubbed by 32-year-old striker

Carlos Tevez is set to snub a transfer inquiry from Chelsea to stay with Boca Juniors

Chelsea fans can’t blame Antonio Conte and company for failing to cast a wide net for new striking talent. The Blues even expressed interest in a 32-year-old front man plying his trade in Argentina’s top flight. Unfortunately for Conte, a reunion with Carlos Tevez isn’t in the cards.

The former Premier League star is set to snub interest from his former Juventus boss to facilitate a longer stay at his boyhood club. His decision comes as a mild surprise to some who believed that Tevez might be tempted to return to the Premier League once again to play for Conte.

Instead, Chelsea will need to move on to other targets to play alongside Michy Batshuayi and possibly Diego Costa at the top of the club’s probable formation. You can count on transfer rumors of Chelsea’s interest in the likes of Alvaro Morata and Romelu Lukaku will start to churn again now that Tevez has flatly refused the club’s inquiries.

Diego Costa might be the most disappointed man to hear that Tevez is staying put. He needs for Chelsea to acquire at least one big-name centre forward this summer if he has any hope of engineering a dream move back to Spain. Right now, Chelsea would be foolish to part with him given the dearth of other top-level strikers at Stamford Bridge.

It’s a shame that Carlos Tevez seems to be dead set on staying in Argentina because that is standing in the way of what would be a very interesting return to England. Not even the allure of playing for Antonio Conte is enough to pry Tevez away from his beloved Boca.
