Anthony Martial happy to take No.11, claims Manchester United fan
Anthony Martial's number change at Manchester United appears to have caused quite the storm.
The Frenchman was apparently not consulted before he was shoved to the No.11 at the request of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who took his prized No.9.
Martial did little to quell the situation, changing the header picture on his Twitter account to one that clearly shows his old shirt number and his profile picture to one displaying the words 'AM9'.
He also reportedly stopped following Manchester United's official account, which sent fans into temporary meltdown before they realised it didn't actually mean anything at all.
But it did seem clear that the 20-year-old was feeling somewhat annoyed with the situation. He had started to build a brand around that No.9 shirt, which will now have to be either changed or put on hold until Ibrahimovic departs.
THE SITUATION
So this is where the fuss really started. Martial's Twitter appeared to make the fact that he was No.9 last season very clear.
Of course, this is hardly a reliable source of information but there is a picture of a man standing next to another man, one of which looks a hell of a lot like Martial, so we're going to trust it.
Besides, it appears that the forward said exactly what we would have expected him to say. The storm we thought was brewing was actually nothing more than a light breeze.
Now, the situation appears to have been completely resolved with Martial re-following Manchester United's accounts on both Twitter and Instagram. Well, thank the footballing gods for that.
