Wayne Rooney: This is why I'm excited to play alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic
WAYNE ROONEY has admitted that he cannot wait to play alongside new Manchester United signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Ibrahimovic has finally made the decision to come to the Premier League having enjoyed a successful career at European heavyweights such as Barcelona, Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.
His arrival has prompted speculation over Rooney's own position at the club, with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial also jostling for a place in Jose Mourinho's starting line-up.
However, an undeterred Rooney has admitted that he excited about seeing Ibrahimovic in a red shirt.
He said in a Facebook Q&A: "I am looking forward to playing alongside him.
"He's been one of the best strikers in world football over the last 10 years. He's always won trophies wherever he's been. He's such a huge character.
"So I'm looking forward to getting back training with him and then hopefully forming a good partnership with him and being successful together."
Rooney will be aiming to lead United to more silverware after helping the club win the FA Cup under old boss Louis van Gaal in May.
And the opportunity to lift another trophy will come in just a couple of weeks, with United facing Leicester in the Community Shield on August 7.
